Novelune Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 20, 2026 Applies to: Novelune for Android (com.lakewellstudio.novelune) Publisher: Lakewell LLC

Novelune is a viewing app. You open it, you watch, you close it. There is no sign-up, no profile, and no advertising, and the app was deliberately built so that it never needs to know who you are. This policy describes exactly what that means in practice.

1. The short version

2. How the content reaches your phone

Novelune does not ship video inside the app package. When you open an episode, the app requests that video file over HTTPS from our static content delivery network and plays it back as the data arrives — the same way a web page loads an image. Your device buffers a short segment ahead of playback so the picture does not stutter; that buffer is temporary, is managed by the Android system media player, and is discarded when you leave the episode.

Novelune does not save episodes into your photo gallery, your Downloads folder, or any location you or other apps can browse. There is no offline download feature and no export or sharing of video files.

The app also fetches a small catalogue file that lists the available series, so that new titles can appear without you having to update the app. That file contains only catalogue information — titles, cover images, episode lists — and nothing about you.

3. AI-generated content

Some series in Novelune are produced with generative AI tools, including AI-assisted or fully AI-generated video, imagery, and voice. Titles that fall into this category carry an AI label on their cover and on their detail screen inside the app, and the About screen states it plainly.

All AI-generated material is reviewed by us before it is published. It is fiction and is presented as such: it does not depict real, identifiable people making real statements, and it is not intended to be mistaken for news, documentary footage, or a record of actual events. If you believe a piece of content is misleading, harmful, or infringes someone's rights, please use the reporting route in section 8 — we act on those reports.

4. Information we collect

None that identifies you. Novelune does not ask for, and has no mechanism to receive, your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, precise or coarse location, or advertising identifier. The app does not read your device's advertising ID, does not fingerprint your device, and does not create a user profile.

Because there is no account, there is nothing on our side that could be tied back to you: no user record, no watch history stored in the cloud, no synced favourites.

5. What is stored on your device

Novelune keeps a small amount of information locally, using the standard Android preference storage (shared_preferences). It never leaves your phone and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else:

You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling Novelune — removing the app removes this data with it.

6. Technical data handled while streaming

Any request over the internet necessarily reveals some technical information to the server answering it. When your device requests a video file or the catalogue file, our content delivery provider receives the request in its ordinary server logs — typically the IP address the request came from, the file requested, the time, and a standard client identifier. This is what makes delivery possible, and it is the same information any website receives when you visit it.

We use this only to serve the file and to keep the service running and secure. We do not use it to identify you, we do not combine it with anything else, we do not build audience profiles from it, and we do not sell or share it. Novelune's media is hosted on Cloudflare R2, and Cloudflare processes those requests as our infrastructure provider under its own security and logging practices.

The app requests only two Android permissions, both of which are needed purely for streaming: internet access and network state. It requests no runtime permissions at all — no storage, no location, no camera, no microphone, no notifications.

7. No ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs

Novelune bundles no advertising network, no analytics or attribution library, no crash-reporting service, no social media kit, and no consent or tracking framework. Nothing in the app reports your behaviour to a third party. The only outbound connections the app makes are to our own content delivery endpoints to fetch the catalogue and the video you asked to watch.

8. Reporting content

Every episode in Novelune has a Report action in the player menu. Choosing it lets you pick a reason and opens your email app with a message addressed to report@lakewellstudio.com, pre-filled with the series and episode number so we know exactly what you are referring to. You can also write to that address directly.

We review every report. We aim to respond within five business days, and content that violates our rules, Google Play policy, or applicable law is removed from the catalogue — which takes it out of the app for everyone, without requiring an app update.

9. Children

Novelune is a general-audience entertainment app intended for adults and older teenagers, in line with its Google Play content rating. It is not designed for, marketed to, or directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — in fact we do not collect personal information from anyone. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has been using the app, uninstalling it removes all locally stored data; if you have questions, write to us and we will help.

10. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA/CPRA in California give you rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal data a company holds about you, and to opt out of its sale. Novelune holds no personal data about you on our systems, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, delete, or sell — and we have never sold or shared personal information. The data that exists is on your own device and entirely under your control. If you would like this confirmed in writing for your records, ask us and we will provide it.

11. Changes to this policy

If Novelune ever changes in a way that affects this policy — for example if we introduced accounts or any form of measurement — we will update this page and change the effective date above before the change reaches users, and we will describe what changed. The current version always lives at this address.

12. Contact

Questions about this policy, or about how Novelune works, can go to contact@lakewellstudio.com. Content reports go to report@lakewellstudio.com. A person reads both.

Data safety summary
